During the COVID-19  emergency, special rules governed the meetings of City bodies, including the War Memorial Board of Trustees. Starting March 1, 2023, the special rules will no longer be in place and most rules will revert back to their pre-pandemic status. On January 10, 2023, the City Attorney’s Office published a memo detailing this change and setting forth the general legal rules that will govern the meetings of City bodies.

The War Memorial Board of Trustees will begin meeting in person consistent with the following rules in effect:

• Board members must attend in person.
• Members of the public may attend and provide public comment in person. Members of the public do not need to be vaccinated to attend.
• Members of the public may also observe the meeting remotely. 
• PLEASE NOTE: Remote public comment, except as necessary for disability accommodations, has been discontinued.  Members of the public are invited to observe the meeting in-person or online. However, only members of the public attending the meeting in person will have an opportunity to provide public comment.   
• Requests for accommodation for remote public comment should be made at least 48 hours prior to the meeting, by email or voicemail (WarMemorialBoard@sfgov.org or 415-554-6377).
• As of April 25, 2022, mandatory masking requirements for in-person meetings in public commission or board hearing rooms in City public facilities is no longer required. Individual members of the public and employees who wish to continue wearing masks in indoor settings are encouraged to do so.

To submit public comment on any agenda item, please email WarMemorialBoard@sfgov.org or leave a voicemail with your comment at 415.554.6377, no later than 12:00 pm on the day before the specific board meeting, stating specifically that you wish to provide public comment.
