Yes. Receptions may take place as stand-alone events or in conjunction with performances. Lobby receptions are subject to rent and labor costs. Please see Reception Spaces for more information.

As a department of the City and County of San Francisco, all positions are hired through the City’s Human Resources department. Please see Employment for more information.

Yes. Each of our unique venues is available for rent, pending availability.

Please note:  The War Memorial facilities are not a public forum and are not available for events that advocate for or against any candidate, ballot measure, political party, or judicial decision; any fundraisers that seek to raise money for or against any candidate, ballot measure, political party, or judicial decision; or any debates concerning any candidate, ballot measure, political party, or judicial decision.

No. The War Memorial is the department of the City and County of San Francisco responsible for managing the rental and maintenance of the Performing Arts Center facilities. Production and promotion of all events and performances is the responsibility of Licensees.

Please visit our Food and Beverage page to learn more. At this time drinks are not allowed in the auditorium.

Cocktails, beverages, and snacks are available pre-show and during intermissions for your enjoyment in the lobbies of the War Memorial Opera House and Davies Symphony Hall. The Opera House restaurant is open on the lower level for full served-buffet and ala-carte dining prior to evening performances and for brunch prior to Sunday matinees. For more information, please visit our Food and Beverage page. There is no regular food and drink service at the Herbst Theatre or the Wilsey Center. Food and drink are not allowed in the auditoriums.

The War Memorial and Performing Arts Center is a landmark cultural institution owned and operated by the City and County of San Francisco.

We do not produce or present any events, we only rent the venues to other organizations. We have no tickets and/or in-kind donations that we can contribute.
