Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

The War Memorial facilities are home to a variety of performing arts venues, galleries, rehearsal rooms and event spaces, as well as offices and meeting rooms that provide support to San Francisco’s veterans communities.

Our staff strives to treat all clients and presenters with equal attention and respect, and prides itself on providing full-service production support to a diverse array of nonprofit arts and culture organizations.

The San Francisco War Memorial acknowledges that we are on the unceded ancestral homeland of the Ramaytush Ohlone who are the original inhabitants of the San Francisco Peninsula. As guests, we recognize that we benefit from living and working on their traditional homeland. We wish to pay our respects by acknowledging the ancestors, elders and relatives of the Ramaytush Community and by affirming their sovereign rights as First Peoples.

In 2020, under the guidance of the Office of Racial Equity (ORE) , a division of the San Francisco Human Rights Commission The War Memorial created a comprehensive Racial Equity Action Plan.

The ORE was created by legislation in 2019 and has as its mandate the creation of a citywide Racial Equity Framework that will transform systems to support the collective liberation of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color in San Francisco.
